About
Us
ARTSupport
was the 'brainchild' of Katharine Laird. Together with her husband, Peter (an
administrator, not an artist), she founded the Club in 2005. The inaugural
meeting, held at the New Life Church, Fuller Drive, Wistaston was on Wednesday
the 28th of September 2005, and was attended by eight founder Members. Of those
Members four, John, Stan, Katharine and Peter, are still Members.
The
original principles upon which the Club was established still hold good today.
The belief being that artists, irrespective of their level of ability, develop
better together in an environment which shares skills, knowledge and ideas. In
other words an environment where they can 'support' each other in 'art' -
ARTSupport.
ARTSupport meetings take place at the Shavington Village
Hall Main Road Shavington CW2 5DU from 9:30am until 1:30pm. The Club meets
every Tuesday (except school holidays)
It was always felt that
ARTSupport should be more than just a 'meeting place' and to that end the Club
has developed to include several facilities of artistic merit. Workshops and
demonstrations from visiting professionals, field-trips, other visits and
exhibitions now form a vital part of the yearly programme.
ARTSupport
has an active Committee comprising Chairman, Vice-Chair, Secretary, and
Treasurer. In addition the Club is well supported by a pro-active membership -
Members being drawn from Crewe, Nantwich, other parts of Cheshire (Sandbach,
Winsford, Middlewich, Ellesmere Port, Tarporley, Chester, Alsager) and
Shropshire.
The relocation to Shavington Village Hall has provided more
spaces and thus ARTSupport has room for another ten members. Contact us through
the details on the Contact page.
ARTSupport comprises a mixture of men
and women in a wide age range. There is an annual membership fee of
£10.00 and each (four-hour) weekly session costs £6.00.
We
are a friendly and happy group and can promise you a very nice welcome.
ARTSupport is non-commercial and non-profit
making.
